Walton has launched its AI-based “AI Doctor” feature, developed by the Walton Research and Innovation (R&I) Center.
This advanced artificial intelligence system monitors the performance of Walton Smart Fridges, diagnosing issues and predicting potential component failures, according to a press release.
If the system detects a problem and fails to self-correct, it promptly notifies the nearest service center, including customer contact details. Service experts then visit the customer’s home to provide quick after-sales service, guided by the AI Doctor’s root cause analysis, it said.
Walton is the first in Bangladesh to introduce the AI Doctor feature in IoT (Internet of Things)-based smart fridges. The feature was inaugurated at a ceremony at the Walton Corporate Office in Dhaka on Sunday.
Walton officials, including Mohammad Rayhan, Managing Director of Walton Plaza; Nazrul Islam Sarker, Additional Managing Director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries; Eva Rizwana Nilu, Deputy Managing Director, among others, attended the event.,
At the event, Tahasinul Haque, CBO of Walton Fridge, emphasised Walton’s commitment to delivering world-class products and top-notch after-sales service. “Our R&I team’s relentless research has led to the introduction of the 'AI Doctor' feature in Bangladesh, setting new standards in smart fridge technology. Customers will now benefit from faster after-sales service, enhancing their experience with Walton Smart Fridges.”
Azmal Ferdous Bappi, Head of the R&I Center, detailed the development of the AI Doctor feature, which took nearly two years of dedicated work. Once connected to WiFi, the AI Doctor analyzes data from the fridge's sensors. If it detects any deviation from the norm, it attempts to fix the issue automatically. If unsuccessful, it alerts the nearest service center, and a customer care representative contacts the customer to resolve the issue at home. This proactive approach ensures that customers receive timely service before any significant malfunction occurs.
Walton officials highlighted that existing users of Walton’s IoT-based smart fridges will benefit from the AI Doctor feature through automatic updates when their fridges connect to the internet. Thousands of Walton smart fridge users are already utilizing the AI Doctor service.
Currently, Walton markets five IoT-based smart fridge models domestically and plans to release six new models this year. Walton refrigerators come with a one-year replacement warranty, a 12-year compressor guarantee, and five years of free after-sales service. Customers enjoy prompt service from over 80 ISO-certified service centers nationwide.
